Correspondence
Tell us what the piece is, who it is for, and when you need it. A paragraph is plenty to start with. We answer every letter within two working days.
Tell us what you are trying to say.
A draft, a brief, or a rough idea. If you are not sure which, send the rough idea — that is usually the useful conversation.

Before you write
Questions we get
How do you price a piece?
By the shape of the job, not by the hour. A structural edit is quoted from the draft; writing is quoted from the brief. You get one number and the scope it covers, and we do not revise it because the work turned out harder than we thought.
How long does it take?
A structural edit on five thousand words is usually a week. Longer pieces, and anything with a committee attached, take longer — and we will say so before you commit rather than after.
Do you work with agencies?
Often. We can work under your name or ours, and we are perfectly happy to be invisible.
Will you argue with me?
Once, in writing, with reasons. After that it is your piece and we will set it the way you want it.
